Tax Tips for Seniors

It’s that time of the year again!  April rolls around and that tax deadline sneaks up on us.  Taxes can be a tricky thing to do and making sure they are done right is crucial.  There are a lot of tax breaks seniors need to be made aware of.  An example of this would be not itemizing your deductions.  By NOT doing this you can a higher standard deduction amount if you or your spouse is over 65 years old.

Also, be careful when calculating the taxable amount of Social Security.  By going to the IRS website, you will be able to find the proper forms needed to do this.  There are a few ways to receive Credit on your taxes, but filing the correct forms is something you need to pay close attention to.

There are a lot of online programs to file taxes, such as TurboTax, but if you are unsure of how to do this or need assistance visit a place where someone can help you such as and H&R Block.    Good luck with your taxes and be sure to complete them by April 15, 2016!
